In the secluded northeastern point of Minnesota, perched on the border of Canada, is the Wilderness Lakes country.  It is a land of cliffs and outcrops, clear water basins, wild rice streams, timberwolves, and moose.  This area is also home to big walleyes, lake trout, burly smallmouth bass, and some of the best northern pike fishing in the country.

At the heart of this country is the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, a 1.1 million acre preserve of deep forest and blue water.

Fowl Lake is in the primitive northwoods wilderness country.  It is the easternmost entry point to Minnesota-Canadian border waters and located at the head waters of the famed Pigeon River, the original route of the Voyageurs and early fur traders.  The shorelines and endless islands of the rocky glacial country are covered with the most dense stands of Norway and White pine, balsam, spruce, birch, aspen, and maple.  The interconnecting lakes form a vast network which served the fur trader and Indians as highways for travel from Lake Superior to Hudson Bay.  Fowl Lake is cool, drinking pure, and an abundant provider to the fisherman.  The greenery of the great woods and the blue lakes combine to produce a beauty and a haven that is irresistible to those who love and enjoy the outdoors.

Come to our primitive wilderness at Ron's Lodge and you will wish never to leave.

To the Fisherman

Prepare for action.  Angle for walleyes, northern pike, bass, and lake trout.  Troll the bottom or cast in the fast waters of the river.  Portage to Moose Lake for lake trout.  If your aim is adventure, you can catch and release fish to your heart's content when you really hit them.  Those with appetites that are frying pan oriented will find a lip smacking delight in a shore lunch of freshly caught walleye.  Come to Fowl Lake, the solitude, beauty, and adventure of a canoe trip or a fly-in trip to the wilderness is here for you to enjoy.  We invite you to let us prepare you for a fascinating trip.  Our years of living in the North Country are your assurance that you will be properly guided for a pleasurable journey into the North Country at Ron's Lodge.
